Shout with joy to the Lord, all you lands; lift up your voice, rejoice, and sing. Psalm 98:5

Children's Choir (grades 1-5)

The Children's Choir is a fun but instructive music experience in which boys and girls learn music reading, sight-singing, good vocal production and Christian education. Holy Communion's Assistant Minister of Music, Ellen Koziel, is the new director of this choir and brings much to our music program at Holy Communion. This choir is an exciting time of music-making each week for 1st-5th graders. The director is assisted by a group of faithful parents at weekly Wednesday rehearsals and when the children sing on Sunday mornings. The Children's Choir sings monthly for worship in addition to other select times during the program year.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays 5:00 - 6:00 p.m., Room 314 (Children's Choir Room)

Parish Choir

The Parish Choir is open to all who wish to sing and share their talents in our parish music ministry. The largest choral ensemble at Church of the Holy Communion, this choir regularly sings for the 10:30 a.m. service on Sundays, offering the widest variety of choral literature from the great classics to spirituals; this choir also presents periodic major choral works with brass or chamber orchestra. The Parish Choir is comprised of adult and high school youth singers of all abilities and is augmented by staff singers. New members are encouraged and always welcomed.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:00 p.m., Room 304 (Choir Room)

Motet Choir

Comprised of professional singers and auditioned volunteers, The Motet Choir specializes in challenging choral literature of all styles of sacred music. Newcomers are always welcome, but a simple audition appointment is requested of all new members. The Motet Choir sings for the 10:30 a.m. service on the 4th Sunday of each month and for other special services and concerts throughout the season.

Holy Communion Ringers

Holy Communion Ringers is our handbell choir for adults and teens. Handbell ringing is a joyful, active way to provide beautiful music for worship, especially those play another musical instrument and want to be active in the music ministry. These dedicated handbell ringers play a three-octave set of Schulmerich English handbells given to the parish by Harwell and Faye Allen. Some basic music-reading ability is helpful for membership. The Holy Communion Ringers provide music for worship about every 4-6 weeks in addition to other seasonal liturgical offerings during the choir program year.

Rehearsals: Sundays, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., Room 304 (Choir Room)

Taizé Schola

In preparation for our Taizé Eucharist services, held on alternate Sunday evenings, a small group of singers gather at 4:30 p.m. to rehearse and prepare the Taizé chants and songs. Music in the Taizé tradition is meditative and intentionally simplistic, giving the worshipper the opportunity to be completely open to the Spirit while singing. Our Taizé Schola is a perfect opportunity for singers who cannot commit to a weekday rehearsal time; just show up on Taizé Sundays and sing!

Rehearsals: 1st and 3rd Sundays, 4:30 - 5:15 p.m., in the Church
